rootin' tootin' for the cute pinay idol

oh yeah...this girl has i fighting chance. of course we have seen better performers here in the homeland like Kayla...but Ramiele Malubay is IN the competition! and for a 17 year old, she knows how to play the game very well. notice how she made her voice all small and little girlish on her first audition day. she was banking on surprising the judges enough to send her to Hollywood--and they played right into her strategy. right on girl!

so Pinoys out there who can vote, support our very own. Ramiele Malubay is waaay better than Jasmine Trias and most of all, i LOOOVE that she is putting the fact that she is Filipina out there. i mean, she is really highlighting it. notice how everyone watching American Idol already know that she is Pinay because she always mentions it. and her family didn't succumb to being called 'ma-loo-bey'. unlike some celebrity athletes (like golfer girl Delasin) who mentions being Filipina only in passing, hardly ever as a matter of fact.

so, way to go, Ramiele! make us proud. and i personally love that i have more vested interest to watch for and cheer on someone in this season's American Idol.

kitchen's done!

yup, done, actually since about a couple of weeks ago. i have fallen to neglecting to blog here again so i'm picking it up...again. will share a recipe today just because i felt like cooking in my clean kitchen and because i have only left over ingredients in the ref. there's leftover frozen salmon sashimi (not fresh enough to be eaten raw anymore) and a few fresh asparagus spears i reserved for today from yesterday's chicken soup. this one is truly a quickie. just maybe 15 mins to do. to complete this delish ulam, the following are also needed: 5 cloves garlic, 1 medium onion, half a lemon (puede rin whole but i have half in the fridge e), olive oil, milk from a liter carton (i like Pura! pero puede rin, CowHead or Magnolia Full Cream...something like that.), oh, by the way, you can use any fileted fish for this recipe too.

1. Saute garlic, then onion in the hot olive oil.
2. Dump in cut and washed asparagus spears.
3. Dump in salmon filet (or sashimi cuts in my case). Season with salt and pepper.
4. Cook this a while. Maybe 5 minutes or till almost done.
5. Squeeze in lemon juice and add milk (maybe about a cup).
6. Simmer a short while to merge flavors.

that's it! super yummy...super quickie too!
